If you truly had a finger on the pulse of Black perspective you would know that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are loved because of their willingness to use their celebrity to confront pervasive racially-based inequities that rarely receive any attention from a white male dominated media. Although the Sharpton may have struck out on Brawley, but nearly every African American living in the hood knows of some case where white police officers have trampled upon the dignity of some young African American female. And, although Jesse's hymie remark was, admittedly, inappropriate and unkind ~ in the after math, his comittment to national and global issues of peace and equity have more than warranted the respect and dignity afforded him by all Americans. Admit it, Imus was wrong, as was the other white men on that show that spewed equally racist remarks. They were wrong ~ especially given the historical context of racism against Blacks in this country. I don't expect an intelligent response ~ and so I have sent a fictitious email address. We sometimes learn best when the only room available is for thought RG,
